Spend enough time around firearms and you start to get excited about the little things: like simple products that address tasks that are frequently encountered and that you wish were easier. Finding a great way to clean shotgun barrels was difficult.
My need to clean shotgun barrels wasn’t just from field use, but also after I’ve performed machining or honing operations on them. In the past, I’d normally either use a bore snake or a brush followed by a loop patch puller. Conventional jags have been around for years, but I was unhappy with their performance.
I happened upon the Bore Tech shotgun jags. Unlike a traditional brass jag, the Bore Tech has a series of plastic fingers that push the jag against the edges of the bore, removing the majority of material they encounter.
The red plastic tip, accepts patches. It is fairly sharp, so placing a patch on the end is easy.
A cotton patch is installed.
This is the first pass through a barrel after I worked on it. I couldn’t be happier with the performance.
