Here’s a quick public service announcement- don’t melt your MagnetoSpeed. Sure I’ve shot them, blown the mounts apart with various brakes and eroded the blade mount with unburnt powder, but this was a new one. I never actually melted one.
Sometimes you need to listen to guys who know more. Other times, you need to learn from your own mistakes. And every now and then, you need to do both. This was the case when I melted my MagnetoSpeed Barrel Mounted Ballistic Chronograph.
I headed to the range with a Ruger Precision rifle equipped with a Q Thunder Chicken suppressor, and despite my buddy Kevin telling me I’d melt the MagnetoSpeed mount if I got it too hot, I went ahead and did it anyway.
The shots stopped registering and the end of the bayonet started dropping, upon inspection I noticed I fried it! The mount that is connected to the bayonet assembly is toast. I’m hoping I can simply swap this part out.
Well, I thought I was going slow and keeping the temperature down, guess I wasn’t! Fortunately, I have an MK Machining Chronograph mount now!
