I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time at the reloading bench for more than two decades. It has been an exercise in patience, with great rewards at times, and the feeling that I could have always done something slightly better. While the dies I use are typically top notch, many of the other accessories I’ve had have been flawed at best. Perhaps one of the most under appreciated items at my bench is my loading tray.
When I set out to design a loading try to bring to market I had a few criteria.
- Heavy- the tray shouldn’t be easily knocked around
- Work with multiple cartridges
- Doesn’t retain spilled powder
- 100 round capacity
- Adequate spacing to access the cartridges with a large funnel, yet small enough to fit on my bench
After making a few different models since 2016, I’ve finally settled on what I consider the best design to date- the “HUNDO”.
The HUNDO is a 100 round loading tray machined from US made 6061 Aluminum. It has stepped holes that work with 223 and 308 size cartridges with a powder drain hole in the middle. It is clear coated in type-3 hard anodizing (which gives it a cool grey look) and has a set of rubber feet to keep if from sliding around.
The stepped holes in the tray actually have the added benefit of supporting most 308 bottle neck cartridges when they are upside down as well.
If you are interested in learning more about the “HUNDO”, or purchasing one (I believe it’ll be the last reloading tray you ever need), you can visit 782 Guns here.
